Mprexe error

By sgarrison ·
I receive the following error message when trying to open Word 7.0 in Windows 95:

"Mprexe caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32."

This has also occurred after logging into the network and then the desktop finishes loading.

According to Microsoft, it could be a corrupt .pwl file, or not enough memory. See these articles:

First, how many messaging programs are running on the pc? If it's only one, then uninstall windows messaging and reinstall allowing all files to be overwritten. If you have more than one, try removing one or more of the messaging programs. I have seen similar problems when running aol instant messenger and yahoo messenger w/groupwise in startup.

I have ran into this problem numerous times and deleting the .pwl file for the user logging in has always solved it. Sometime you might have to delete all .pwl files. I would start with the user's .pwl file in question.
