MPREXE hangs system

By ssbnetadmin ·
I am trying to find a solution to this error messages without having to re-install windows.

"MPREXE, This program has performed an illegal operation and will shutdown....
MPREXE caused an invalid page fault in module HPJDNP.DLL at 0115f:1000224e."

As a result of this I can not log into the local network, use printers on the network, or even a printer connected to the PC. It also cause the system to go into a hang state.

Your help is appreciated.

I believe HPJDNP.dll is from HP JetAdmin software. Applying any updates available to your current version of HP JetAdmin would be the first step I would try to eliminate this problem. The following website should give you a starting point to search for latest drivers/updates:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpjetadmin1876_swen.html. I don't know if it will suggest applying an update to your current version or perhaps uninstalling and then downloading and installing a complete new version. Good luck.

Boot into Safe mode and remove the HP printer drivers from your system. Do NOT remove any files from c:\windows\system . Reboot into normal mode and re-install the most current version of your printer drivers.

MPREXE is crashing due to HPJDNP.DLL being corrupted. HPJDNP is part of the HP printer installation, it provides for network communication with your HP printer. I would logon in safe mode (and remove your printer connections and the associated drivers, then reboot and logon normally and try reinstalling the printer connections.
