    MS Excel – no scroll

    Locked

    by thurmbo ·

I have created a spreadsheet for my customers to use, however some users are unable to “scroll’ up/down. They say they can scroll from side-to-side though.

My spreadsheet was created using MS Excel 2003. Does anyone know why this may be happening?

    All responses are appreciated!!!

      Possible compatibility problem

Find out what version of Excel that the users having problems is. If it is anything but Excel 2003, save the file as a .csv for those users and have them import it.

        TiggerTwo,

Will this solution still work If I am emailing the spreadsheet to the users?

        Thank you,

        Greg

          It should

On your end- File-> Save As-> in the drop down select .csv. Put someplace handy.

Your email should advise the recipient that the file is a .csv. When double clicked, Excel should automatically open the Import wizard for them. The wizard defaults to csv and shouldn’t cause your end users any difficulty.

Post back if you run into problems.

It seems that (in one case) the user could not utilize the “freeze pane” feature that I incorporated into my spreadsheet. I created it using Excel 2003 and he is using 2007 version.

I am still awaiting response from the other users, regarding your advice, to see if that cures thier problems.

          Thanks again,

          Greg

          No worries

Until 2007 has a wider user base, we will see this kind of problem. Generally the first question I ask is what version of Office the end user is running. A .csv will generally cure the problem unless you are using multiple formulas. Then you will have to consider other options.

Thanks for letting me know that this was a workable solution!

      Unfreeze panes, refreeze if required
