MS Money 98 restore backup

By alexfogg ·
How can I recover data from a corrupt .mbf(Money Backup File)? Microsoft's tech support say's I can't. There has got to be a way to access the data in this file. Does anyone know of a string command or any way to access the non-corrupt data in this file?

can you 1 :copy disk to a temp directory . 2:if so ,try opening backup from temp directory , if not .
use scandisk + repair errors on backup disk. if scan successful , should be useable but verification of data will be required as some data corruption will occur .
3: thump backup disk on side on desktop if unable to do (1). some times a hit , not hard , is all they need . try scandisk at least 4 times .
if unable to do any of the above , disk is unrepairable . I have used this to repair and access corrupt disks for several accounting packages and have had one failure only .

The first answer looks good to me. But if that didn't work, try my suggestion:

Call Bill Gates. He knows the answer to this question. His phone number is (425) 882-8080.
