MS Office 97 & Word

By djames ·
I have created a form in word 97 which uses the commondialog box for visual basics. Unfortunately only some users are able to succesfully use this form. Other users are receiving error messages such as "could not load an oject it is not available onthis machine". This is because the MS Office Common dialog activex is not installed on the users machine. Can someone tell me how I get this installed? I've tried uninstalling office 97 completley, but no luck so far.

First make sure that the machine has the required ocx. Look for C:\Windows\System\comdlg32.ocx once you have the file, make sure to register the ocx. To register the ocx open the RUN command bar and type "regedit /comdlg32.ocx" minus the double quotes.

Good Luck

In word, go into Tools-Macros-VB Editor, IN the VB box, click on Tools-References, make sure user has a check box infront of ActiveX Type Library. You can programmatically register these in the on open module for the doc. I believe the code for this can be found in VBA help. Hope this helps - Good luck!
