MS SharePoint Portal Server

By a_tank ·
I have no experience with this product and need some. The people in our real estate department use sharepoint to store their documents. When they try to disconnect a document from a category they get an error saying "you do not have access to save the file or folder properties, or there are network problems preventing authentication from the server". They have not had these issues in the past. We are running the 2001 version. I don't know which service pack, if any, we are running (if there isa way to find out, please let me know). It's on a W2K server.

MS SharePoint Portal Server

by Joseph Moore In reply to MS SharePoint Portal Serv ...

I have only had to work a little with SharePoint Team Servies, not the full SharePoint so I am just guessing here.
Did you try and go to the Propertis of the Category that won't let users detach documents from, and view the Properties of the Category?
Maybe there is something in there.

But it could just be a NTFS Permissions issue. Maybe the accounts your users connect to the SharePoint server with do NOT have Delete permissions in the physical folder that stores the documents on the SharePoint server. So, I would check there.
Go to Properties on the folder on the SharePoint server. Click the Security tab. See if your users are listed as having Delete permissions.

I don't know if your users browse SharePoint under the IUSR_MACHINENAME anonymous account, of if they log into the SharePoint server first. But either way, the account the user is connecting via HTTP to the SharePoint server must have delete rights (maybe) to remove a document from a Category. I am just thinking outloud here.

hope this helps

Hi,

I believe this is related to the problem that you are having.
It seems that is a issue with shortcuts. Try a mapping and see what the result will be.
