MS Updates vs. Loss of WAN Connection

By Super_IT_Mom ·
Server 2K3. 2 NICS - one intranet and one internet. Worked fine for months. All of a sudden I lost internet connectivity. All hardware works fine. Is there a particular MS Update that would have messed up this connection? Or a command I can run to rest winsock? netsh does not have a winsock option. Thank you!

Can you ping any named servers on the Internet such as TechRepublic.com at 216.239.115.148?

If you run a tracert, where does the path stop?

Is your internal DNS server passing packets to the internet ie email still works?

It might have been a driver update for the NIC which caused it to temporarily disconnect and then had an issue reconnecting. I would disable the nic, and try reenabling it and see what that does. Possible disable one nic and reboot. Then reenable the nic.
