msbb.exe will not delete

By Casemaker ·
Hi, I have a pc that has the adware msbb.exe installed. The os is W ME. It shows up as threats when I run Norton 2004 but will not delete. I have followed all the instructions on Nortons website. There are no references msbb.exe,NCase or 180solutions in the registry. I have turned off system restore. I have run ad aware and spybot, deleted any logs or quarentine areas for both programs. Any ideas?

Have you tried to run Ad-Aware, spyboy or Norton is safe mode? Booting in safemode usually only looks the basic windows files, so the ad/malware shouldn't lood.

Give that a try. Good luck
Tim

Detection
Bazooka Adware and Spyware Scanner detects n-CASE. Bazooka is freeware and detects spyware, adware, foistware, trojan horses, viruses, worms, etc. Read more ?

Uninstall procedure
Uninstall n-CASE from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows? Control Panel. Look for "Interstitial Ad Delivery by n-CASE" and "PAD Lookups by n-CASE". The vendor also offer uninstall instructions. If the uninstall fails, please contact the vendor for support.

Manual removal
Please follow the instructions below if you would like to remove n-CASE manually. Please notice that you must follow the instructions very carefully and delete everything that is mentioned. In most cases the removal will fail if one single item is not deleted. If n-CASE remains on your system after stepping through the removal instructions, please double-check by stepping through them again.
Start the registry editor. This is done by clicking Start then Run. (The Run dialog will appear.) Type regedit and click OK. (The registry editor will open.)
Browse to the key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run'
In the right pane, delete the values called 'msbb', 'KRY' and 'PWG', if they exists.
In the right pane, look for value that looks random, for example 'ROQW'. Delete this value.
Exit the registry editor.
Restart your computer.
Start Windows Explorer and delete:
%ProgramsDir%\n-Case\
%ProgramsDir%\nCase\
%SystemDir%\msbb.exe
%SystemDir%\msbb.dll
%SystemDir%\msbb1.dll
%WinDir%\ncmyb.dll
%WinDir%\KRY.exe
%WinDir%\PWG.exe
Note: %WinDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows (Windows 95/98/Me/XP) or C:\WINNT (Windows NT/2000).
Note: %SystemDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).
Note: %ProgramsDir% is a variable (?). By default, this is C:\Program Files.
