    Hi

I recently Used a New 8GB flash drive that my friend bought (which was formatted to FAT32) I copied 4GB of mp3’s onto it from my hard drive

My PC allowed me to copy all 4GB of mp3s onto the flash drive with no errors I safely unplug the drive and put it in again and it sees all of the files and directories.

I then took the drive to my friend and plugged it in, and I couldn’t see half of the folders, some folders show duplicate folder names and some folders are even empty!!!

Both systems are running Window 7 also.

(Both PC’s are USB2 compliant also).
I’ve tried it on my PC and it shows the same as when it was on my friends PC, not all folders and some are duplicated and empty!
Looking in the folders I’ve copied isn’t the mp3’s i was expecting, but more folders showing the same as their parent level (i.e. the same folders) this goes on for 3 more levels down until in the last set of folders are 2 files showing these filenames (??X??MSDOS.5.0,),
I reformatted it on my PC I tried formatting it to NTFS but it wouldn’t complete the format so i put it back to FAT32
I then Tried one of my USB flash drive 4GB and it too is now infected.
Have tried 4 Different anti Spy-Malwares Programs and none of them detect a Problem.

    Can you help
    Regards

    Terry Burns

      Repost as ‘Q&A’

Try reposting this in the ‘Q&A’ forum. The ‘Discussion’ forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution. The ‘Water Cooler’ is for non-technical discussions. You can submit a question to ‘Q&A’ here:

There are TR members who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution. Although there is some overlap between the forums, you’ll find more of those members in ‘Q&A’ than in ‘Discussions’ or ‘Water Cooler’.

Be sure to use the voting buttons to provide your feedback. Voting a ‘+’ does not necessarily mean that a given response contained the complete solution to your problem, but that it served to guide you toward it. This is intended to serve as an aid to those who may in the future have a problem similar to yours. If they have a ready source of reference available, perhaps won’t need to repeat questions previously asked and answered. If a post did contain the solution to your problem, you can also close the question by marking the helpful post as “The Answer”. .

[b]But as a starting point you need to scan the system without Windows Running so I would suggest a Rescue Disc like any of the ones listed in this TR Article
