Can you run SYSTEM FILE CHECKER in DOS? Any help wouldbe appreciated. Tried formatting c: drive-cannot even do that.THANKS-

MTMCDAI.SYS File is reference to the cdrom that is not present on the boot disk and this is the reason you cannot get access to cd-rom
You will need to boot to command prompt type DIR and copy the mscdex file to create a boot disk
A:\copy mscdex.exe C:\ Enter
try creating another win98 startup disk from another computer that has the cdrom drivers, you need to load the cd-rom drivers before you will be able to complete setup

MTMCDAI.SYS is used in Win95... I have the file on a Win95 boot disk and I'll send it to you at the above e-mail address. But I don't know if it'll help or not (I have no Win95 computers to test it with).

I tried to send the e-mail to the above account twice... but twice it bounced back as "user unknown". If you are still listening/watching, then please post a proper e-mail account so that I may send you the file!
