Multiple Users On a Win2K PC with Novell

By steveb ·
We are currently running a Novell 5.x network with a Microsoft Exchange server and Windows 98 client machines. We are deploying Windows 2000 professional as the client machine. Our problem is that we have multiple user PCs, with 50+ users needing to log on to different machines throughout the building. Obviously we don't want to have to create 50+ user profiles on each machine. Short of dumping Novell, which isn't feasible right now, is there anyway to setup either Novell or Windows so thatthere is one logon that will give the user both their domain logon for Exchange e-mail and also their Novell network drives?

get the zen starter pack for netware. you can set up a user policy that will create the users profiles on the workstations without having to hit each computer. you can also do just about everything you can do with microsoft policys through it. Also it will give you the ability to distribute apps to the clients without having to hit each one... best part is .. the starter pack is free. look for this ZENworks Starter Pack English (April 2000)

We ran into nearly the same issue, what we ended up doing is forcing 2000 to log into the workstation automatically (with registry settings that can be found on microsoft.com), and then put Novell into the startup of the machine thus bringing up thelogin screen. However the users still have to sign into Outlook but this does get around the creating 50 profiles on each machine.
