Need Advice for New Beginning

By prophet33 ·
I would like to learn something new such as a programming language or something that will allow me to create applications. Now the stipulation is that I don't know any programming languages, and frankly I don't know where to start. I like to create things, but not graphically. I like to organize data, and would like to venture towards that arena. I understand that Excel does this, but I want to create the environment. If someone would point me in the right direction as to tutorials, languages, starter software, etc. that would be a step in the right direction. I'm not looking spend 1000's of dollars as this is not expedient. And I am not sure how specific I need to be regarding the direction in which you will point. Therefore, all of your help is appreciated, and I do look forward expecting your um sage advice.
Thank You
kds

Microsoft Access might be a good option. It has the database aspect plus some programming aspect. It can get you started.

TR's sister site www.builder.com.com can help you explore programming languages.

You might consider looking at some of the C++, Visual Basic, and XML articles.
