NetIQ AppManager v.s. BMC Software Patro

By corey.pincock ·
I am currently evaluating AppManager and Patrol for deployment on our LAN of 500 users and 25 servers. We are rapidly growing and need to monitor our NT boxes and the applications they run.

Just wondering what other people's experiences with oneor the other were.

NetIQ AppManager v.s. BMC Software Patro

If you still are watching this and care....

Personally, I have evaluated Patrol. It proved to be quite obviously ported from Unix. Everything worked great, but much of the configuration was done by editing files, and the UI was cumbersome (in my opinion). I've looked at AppManager a bit less, but it appeared to be as capable as Patrol while feeling more in line with the rest of NT, particularly in the UI and configuration. If you need to monitor more than just NT, Patrol is probably better, if you want to integrate that monitoring. If you only have to monitor NT, I'd guess AppManager will be easier to work with, and give you the same results.
