NetMeeting Connection

By jhsband84 ·
Just recently when I use NetMeeting from home to call my office computer, it won't accept my username and password, and after three attempts tells me it won't accept the call. I can, however, use NetMeeting from home to call the server and other workstations in the office. Another point is that from inside the office I can use NetMeeting to connect to my office computer. All workstations at the office are W2k SP4. Thanks in advance.

Sounds as if it is a configuration issue between the home system and the office system since both of them work on everything else.

Do you have a personal firewall product like Zone Alarm on this pc that you don't have on the others?

I can't think of anything that might have changed at the office. All workstations run the same software, including SAV Corporate edition, no firewall. We do have Zone Alarm at home, but I am able to connect to other computers at the office, just not mine.

That is simply bizarre. Does the GPO on your system have any special settings in Access This Computer from the network and Login Interactively?

In the local security policy on my workstation, the "Access this computer" and "Logon locally" policies include almost the same set of User groups. The "Access this computer" policy includes Everyone and JML019/ASPNET, where the "Logon locally" policy includes JML019/GUEST. They both include Administrators, Power Users, Users, and Backup Operators.

I believe I found the problem. For some reason "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" wasn't checked in LAN connection properties, TCP/IP properties, Advanced, WINS. I enabled it, rebooted, tried to connect via NetMeeting from home during lunch, and it worked!
