NetMeeting. Video link Father Daughter

By alan.robinson14 ·
Installed a Logitec video cam on both pc's. Installed Windows Netmeeting for Win 98 on both pc's.

Now stuck. How do they connect. Do I need an IP address for each pc? Basically how does it work?

First make sure Netmeeting detects the camera:
Launch Netmeeting and click the play button to view yourself in the window. If you don't see video, goto the Tools menu, then Options, then the Video tab. In the Video Camera Properties section, make sure you see your camera as the capture device. If you don't see it, un-install/re-install your camera drivers, and make sure all connections are made.

Next get your IP address for both computers:
On the Start menu, choose Run. Type in "winipcfg" (without the quotes). I'll assume you're using dial-up. Choose one of the PPP adapters, and you will see your IP address. Write the IP address down for both computers.

Then just make the call:
(Make sure both computers are connected and have an IP address) From Netmeeting, goto the Call menu, then select New Call. Type in the IP address of the other computer, and click Call.

The other computer should receive a little pop-up window, prompting the user to Accept or Reject the call.

Other features:
1. You can automatically accept calls by going to the Call menu and selecting Automaticall Accept Calls.
2. To see both yourself and the other person in the call goto the View menu and select My Video(New Window)

That should be enough to get you going!
