Netware Dial in problem

By Spike_67 ·
I have a friend who has a netware network (not sure what version)...he has clients who dial in. If someone is dialed in and another client tries to dial in the first user gets knocked off. Can anybody give me some ideas as to what to look for? the clients are all using Win2K laptops and are dialing from regular dialup modems.

Netware Dial in problem

by TimTheToolMan In reply to Netware Dial in problem

Hi,

I assume there are multiple modems involved? If one person was connected and another person dialed the same modem, then if "call waiting" was enabled on the phone line (you know the beeps you hear when someone else is ringing you while you'reon the phone), the the disruption to the signal can cause modems to hang up.

Disable "call waiting on the phone line(s) to the server.

Cheers,
Tim.

No points please, just seconding the first answer.
If someone is already dialed in, and another person dialing in to the same number knocks them off, then this is strictly a phone issue, nothing to do with the server or the clients.
