Could you tell me which topology would be best and cost effective for a LAN network installed on a 10 floor building with 1500 computers spread over the 10 floors. Ethernet, Star, Token-Ring etc? The LAN has to be joined together.
Thanks
Edryd

Tree Topology would be the best option. This is a hybrid topology of star-configured networks connected to a linear bus as a backbone. Heres' a schematic view of it :

Ethernet network. Switches should be utilized and positioned on the floors to keep your cable runs at a minimum.

Link the switches together with fiber.
