Network goes down when backup verifies

By cliveoates ·
I?ve managed to install a scsi card and an ext. tape drive which Backup Exec picked it up well. All drivers were the updated ones which I downloaded from the internet. The problem now is that every time after it tries to complete a full backup by verifying (before ending the backup job) the whole network goes down and we can?t even access anything from the server, as though the server was turned off. I just have to cancel the verify (backup) and restart the server to bring everything back. Off course the backup job then appears as cancelled by user. When unchecking the checked box ? Verify after backup completes? it backed up successfully. Maybe I should just leave it at that (not to verify). Do you think it is necessary to have it verified? I do think so.

I am using Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows Servers.

Any ideas?

That sounds very weird. I did find an interesting document regarding pos operations running before verify. If you have a post operation check this out:

I just got my BE Win 9.1 license this morning. All my experience has been with BE NW 9.1
good Luck,

Which version of Windows?

What Service Pack Level?

What hot fixes?

What applications are on this server?

Any service packs or hotfixes for the applications?

Is it a domain controller?

Is it a global catalog as well? If it is, could be an overloaded GC with a run-away LSASS situation due to a malformed LDAP call. I've seen that happen more than once....

When you say the network goes down, do you mean that all systems lose connectivity to the network as in a broadcast storm on an Ethernet segment? Or just that server loses network connectivity?
