Network Installation Startup Disk

By btarter1 ·
I need to create a network installation startup disk, but when specifying the target workstation configuration, my network adapter card doesn't appear on the drop down list. How can I modify this configuration to include the card and driver that I want to use?

Thanks,
Bob Tarter

Network Client Administrator under Administrative Tools is very limited. Fortunately, MS provides a better alternative on the NT server CD. Go to the folder Clients\msclient\disks. You will find folders called disk1 and disk2. Copy the contents of each to seperate floppies. I have used these disks to connect to our NT servers to install Win9x on clients that don't have CD-ROMs (believe it or not, we have a lot of those). I boot to a dos or win95 startup disk. Insert disk1 and run setup.Follow the directions. When you get to the option for NICs, you will be given the option to provide your own NIC driver. I provide the DOS driver for the NIC (not the Win 9x driver or NT driver), and then upgrade the driver after the OS is installed.
