Network Monitoring Tools

By Meierhoffer ·
I was wondering if anyone here knew of any quality networking monitoring tools so that my company could find out how much bandwidth each computer is using in a day,and use it to see what bandwidth they are using on the network. I believe that at least one of the computers, possibly more has a bad NIC card and is continuously sending packets and flooding the network.

Any programs out there that could do this? Our router currently doesn't use SNMP, so I have had some problems finding a decent utility.

Network Monitoring tool - EtherPeek

by fred In reply to Network Monitoring Tools

WildPackets makes a product called EtherPeek, which will definately do what you are asking for. It is a protocol analyzer, so it will capture all of the packets on the wire and analyze them in numerous ways. Not only can you see who the top talkers on the wire, but you can also see what protocols that they were using, and how well the server responded. There is demo software that you can download from www.wildpackets.com and a live tring/demo session every Tuesday at 3:30 EST. To sign up send an email to sales@wildpackets.com.
