Network Problem...

By weathervane143 ·
I can't view other computers on my network, but they can view mine. If I open a networked folder from my computer under one of the other computers, then they will finally show up on the network. What's the deal with that?

oh-my...

by dawgit In reply to Network Problem...

I think you left out a whole lot of rather important info. It sounds like a typical windoze network... But all any-one can do is guess. What type of network set-up is it? (supposed to be) Server? OS's? Help.!.
Get the point? More information please.
Welcome to TR BTW. B-) -d

a little more info

by weathervane143 In reply to oh-my...

its a private network with 3 computers wired to a firewall router and setup into one workgroup name. nothing special nor complicated but for some reason it won't recognize others on the network from this computer until you physically go to another computer and open a networked folder from this one. tell me if you need anything else....thanks!

ah, ok.

It looks like your issues will be in the router. Try to go to the router set-up through your web browser, sign-in, and see what is and is-not set there. I don't know what brand you have, and certainly don't know how to program all of them, but it's not hard. They all have instructions for the set-up. That should get your computers talking to each other again. -d

not a router problem

by ismokedubs In reply to Network Problem...

if your all on the same subnet your not even using layer 3 routing, try manually mapping a drive to get windows to wake the F up! or remove yourself from the workgroup and put yourself back in!
