Sharing a broadband connection

Using a router is the best way to do this. NAT routers are inexpensive and have the advantage of isolating your computers from the public IP address assigned by your broadband carrier. For example, your public IP address could be 70.19.233.48, and your LAN IP address could be 192.168.0.101 This affords you some protection from the outside world. Typically the routers have ports for from four to eight computers.
