New 2000 Advanced Server Setup

By tundraroamer ·
I am replacing our current NT4 server with a new box and 2000 Advanced Server. The rest of our system is WTS/Citrix Metaframe and other NT4 servers. Primary use of this server is a database program that about 40 - 50 users will be accessing. We will also be upgrading to M$ SQL Standard on this server. My question is the hardware specs. What do you all suggest for optimum performance?

New 2000 Advanced Server Setup

PIV 1.9ghz(minimum 2 xeon cpu if you want real overkill)
RAID 5 (3 10000rpm scsi w/adaptec controller)
Memory is a big issue MS recommends 128mb + whatever the server OS needs so another 256 minimum for the os. (this might be a bit of overkill butit provides fault tolerance and scalability as well)

read these ms guides before purchase/install
note remove spaces in urls
