New Hard Drives are coming

By mmbc_voltron ·
I just ordered somemore hardrives for my Dell poweredge. I made sure they are the same model numbers and everything I have 4 hard drives allready in there with a Raid 5 configureation. When I add the new hard drives will I be able to continue the partition size and not create another drive letter.

You can have up to 32 drives in a Raid 5 array. So, yes.

So even though I have my partitions already created and there is data on them, When I add the new drives they will sync with the rest of the data.

BEFORE you add any new drives to your array, be absolutly certain you have studied and understand the operating system in regards to expanding RAID arrays.
SECOND be absolutly certain you have a VERIFIED system backup before you add any drives to the RAID array.

I have taken all of that in to concideration.

Is this a hardware-based RAID array, or software-based? Because, obviously, you will add the new drives to the array differently, depending on if it is hardware or software.
But other then that, as long as the drives are of the same drive space capacity, then yes, you can add them to the array and expand it.
