No Adabters Bound To TCP/IP Are Enabled

By Kent.J.Cogan ·
When a client calls in with no network connectivity and we try to release and renew the IP address and we get an error "No Adabters Bound To TCP/IP Are Enabled For DHCP" What needs to be done to enable DHCP for the adapters bound to tcp/ip?
Clientsare running WIN NT 4.0 SP6
mostly on Toshiba Tecra Laptops.

No Adabters Bound To TCP/IP Are Enabled

I have been pulling my hair out all week with this question. I had one of our laptops where the user has broken the clips on the dongle for the network connection. So I bought a new one. Install it load drivers get link lights but unable to locatethe domain controller. Even get you same message when using ipconfig /renew. I posted this question on monday and got 3 responses of reload the the sp and that will rebind your card. Well NO LUCK. I finnally have just gone back to the original card with the broken dongle and bam...Work fine.

In your case though sounds like it all of the sudden happens. If i were you I would remove and readd the adapter, and make sure you have the drivers for it before doing so. Then after you get it to work redo sp6a. I also had to remove the tcp/ip protocol and then all the services so that the next time you go to properties of network it will say networking not installed do you wish to install now. say yes and then have your driver ready, along with your i386 directory.

Good luck
Rad

any questions you can get ahold of me thru peer directory.

This is a simple answer, and probably won't help you at all. In the TCP/IP properties for the NIC in question, make sure the TCP/IP is set to obtain IP address automatically, and if possible, have the DHCP server's IP address in the section marked for it.
