No domain availible to validate password

By rdblaze1 ·
I have a dial up connection set up at home to access my work email, and network drives. When I dial in and log on, I get the error, no domain avi to validate password...I click ok and I'm logged on. I can access my email just fine, but I can not browse the network. I get an error there too. I have the correct workgroup set up, the correct domains etc. I have double checked everything. I even checked the set up of another home pc and I changed my settings to match. Still getting an error

I have had the exact same problem (I'm running Win9. I have found that if, after a reboot, I immediately dial in to work, it will usually log on fine (not always however). When it doesn't and I get the error, I just do a find, computer and locate the server manually. I can browse the network from there. I know this isn't a fix, but it's a workaround that has been sucessful for me.

Make sure your DNS and default gateway settings in the dial-up properties are properly set. This will cause the problem you have.

Check to see if the NetBEUI protocol is installed in Network Properties. If not, install it, reboot and try again.

go to the MS site (www.microsoft.com), go to their search page, and search for "no domain available". You'll get about 100 hits; there are about 10 different reasons for this problem ! You sound like you're using RAS, so look for the answers with RAS in the title or first couple of lines.
