no red color

By cmitchell ·
I have no red color on my screen. However the color red prints out just fine on the printer. this is with win 98. Have looked at the video card settings in the the machine and they all appear to be fine. Looked at device manager and there appears to be nothing wrong there. On boot up there are no tell tale sounds.

this may not be enough information but please give your best evaluation.

Thanks

Need more detail to formulate a better answer.
Based on the infromation, check to see if you have the correct & latest video drivers for your card.

2nd I'd make sure you have the proper monitor selected(Some manufactures will provide a disk/cd for this.

Third I'd try switching the physical monitor w/one I know is good.

If none of these work, I'd need more detail to provide a better answer.

What has probably happened is that your VGA card has been short-circuited. This can be caused by a loose monitor cable which is not screwed on properly. What you can do to see if this is the case is to change it with another VGA card which is exactly thesame.
Hope this helps. Regards,
NICHOLAS.

Check your VGA Cabel Connector. Probably one of the pins is bent and doesn't connect. This can happen quite often. Try to realign the pin and then check if the problem is resolved.

It's one of two things. Either one of the pins in the VGA connector are bent or pushed in or the monitor has a bad color gun. I would first make sure all the pins are straight and none of them are loose and if that doesn't help, you should try a different monitor. Good Luck

There is a very good possibility that this is a problem with the monitor itself. I had a 15' monitor that the red color had stopped working on, so I asked around and found that for the duration of about 6 mounths, one company were sending out faultycathodes in some of their monitors. I would take it to another computer, and see if you can duplicate the problem. If so, there is a fix for it, but you need to have a little electronics background. In the controller portion of the CRT their is a resistor labled r325 it is a 12.5 ohm resistor. If you desoldier that and replace it with one of about 7ohms it should fix your problem.

!!! Warning this could result in injury to persons, or damage to equipment if not done propely!!!
