No Sound on Web

By BorgInva ·
All of the sudden, I hear no sound from any web pages which includes games, videos, etc. I am using both (latest versions) Firefox and Internet Explorer. Anything on my local PC work fine, including games, music, movies. Anything via the web is silent. Any ideas why?

Open internet explorer click on tools and then options. Open advanced and look at the mutimedia settings. These should not change by them selfs, I would scan the computer for malware or look at what you recently installed.

I found and down loaded, Step by Step Tutorials for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Accessibility Options. From MS but it is a 2.1 meg document if you want I can email it to you. Or you can find it by Googleing IE6 will not play sounds.

I am sorry again. I tried upgrading to IE7 with no help. I ahve been searching Google and other engines. Still, no sounds form videos and such from both IE and Firefox, but anything on my local PC plays fine.

Updated info that may help someone who understands web pages??

Using both Firefox 1.5.0.6 and IE 7 beta 7.0.5700.6 (as of yesterday as I have been using IE6x).

So far, the only sounds I can get from a web site are:
http://www.filecabi.net/video/jailedcat.html
http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/mark/audio/play.htm

But I can not hear sounds from sites like:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3637639460474263178

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3vxDcBLGaU&mode=related&search=
Or anything on Youtube.

http://www.whiteboydj.com/babygotbook.html

Or anything from the entire G4TV.com site.

I have also reinstalled Shockwave Flash and the player. No help. It would seem that I am having problems playing anything Flash related. At least, this is what others have posted on other boards but still no one has a resolution on them.

No Sound on Web Fix

by MAXA90 In reply to No Sound on Web

I had this issue today on a PC running Vista. I ran a commandline utility: sfc /scannow and it fix this issue. If you do not have a store purchased PC then you will also need a copy of the Operating System disc.

The utility also works on XP machine. you might be able to use dialafix from http://www.lunarsoft.net/

No Sound on Web

I am not a tech guy in any way shape or form...but I was on Facebook playing MindJolt Games and I hit mute for one of the commercials and the next day I had no sound from anything Flash related. Today after trying to find a solution I remembered what I had done and went back to the game through Facebook and now I have sound. I don't have a clue if I was just lucky or there was some to it.
