Notes Archive Database Corrupt

By tmurray ·
Does anyone know of any utilities that can fix a corrupted Archive database that was created on the local C drive? I cannot access the database even with the Administrator ID it keeps saying you are not authorized to access that database. I tried the Lotus fixup tools but still to no avail. When I tried to copy the database which is 42megs in size from within windows95 it stops copying at 6megs. If I try to copy from dos mode it will only copy 6megs of the 42megs without an error. When I try toview the shortened 6meg database in Notes I get a database is truncated error. If someone knows of a way to get this fixed please let me know. The user still refuses to accept that this database cannot be recovered.

Do you have an ICON on the WorkSpace?

If you do then you should try to do a Compact first before you do anything else. This is so that the white space is eliminated.

If you do not have it on the WorkSpace what happens if you double click the file? It should open it up and put it on the Workspace.

My concern is that both Windows and Dos stop copying at 6meg. It sounds like you have a hard disk problem, and that is why the file appears to be corrupt. The first thing I would do is run scandisk, and select thorough. Once you have corrected the hard disk issue, than you can try the solution reccomended previously.
