Notes Archive Database Corrupt

By tmurray ·
Does anyone know of any utilities that can fix a corrupted Archive database that was created on the local C drive? I cannot access the database even with the Administrator ID it keeps saying you are not authorized to access that database. I tried the Lotus fixup tools but still to no avail. When I tried to copy the database which is 42megs in size from within windows95 it stops copying at 6megs. If I try to copy from dos mode it will only copy 6megs of the 42megs without an error. When I try toview the shortened 6meg database in Notes I get a database is truncated error. If someone knows of a way to get this fixed please let me know. The user still refuses to accept that this database cannot be recovered. We are using Notes client ver 4.6.1

The only thing that I can think of is to try a 'compact' in addition to the 'fixup'. If you are able to view the properties, try getting into the ACL and adding a new user. Beyond that, the file sound irreperable.

Using this sequence has provided me with success: 1) run FIXUP, 2) run Updall -r 3) run Compact.

If this does not work and your lucky that only views (not documents)have unfixable damage, try replacing the design of the db with a template that has similar design attributes (StdR46Mail?). You may then be able to copy the documents out of the damaged db. This is a last chance by the way...
