    NT 4 and surfing

    Locked

    by cd ·

I run a NT 4 network with 20 stations. I have some “difficult” guys surfing unauthorized sites – some with cracks and some with porn. I am interested in those looking for cracks – I just want to see what they are looking for in order to proactively prepare the net against potential attacks.

What is/are the best approaches? eg. setup a directory on the server where to copy, while surfing temporary internet files?

Better yet, security software. Take a look at this:

Why would you just want to ‘see’? Why don’t you just stop them from even trying. Browsing Porn and Cracks during work hours is grounds for termination at our company. You should have a similar policy at yours. I would install a proxy and internet monitoring software. Then you can deny access to all the porn and cracks sites on the web. You can also stop them from downloading software and running stuff like ICQ and Napster. Then I would use system policies to lockdown there workstations and givethem ‘restricted user’ rights so they can’t install software without your knowledge.

I agree with the above, this should be a policy issue with severe consequences. But a simple method for restricting these is in the content restriction set up area of either Internet Explorer, or Netscape. This works pretty well and is easy to setup, and does not involve any extra costs other than your time.

      Good luck.

leon_guerrero@yahoo.com is right , do not waste time lock them down or you risk your complete network.
