If a new mouse didn't fix it, that leaves the mouse port, mouse drivers or motherboard.

Unless you have a serial-port mouse, in which case it could be IRQ conflicts, COM port assignments, drivers or motherboard.

Since the keyboard works OK, itwould appear that you didn't plug the mouse and keyboard into each other's ports.

Check event viewer for error messages or warnings about serial bus or conflicts.

Are the computers the same brand with the same mother boards - check with co if there is an update for the bios.

Are the drivers the same - then check manufacturer site for updated mouse drivers

Try moving mouse to COM1 or COM2 and see if the problem goes away

Look at task manager and see if there are any services or programs hogging the CPU when the mouse stops responding - try then to have that service start manually (control panel) and see if this fixes problem

Observe when the mouse freezes - is it randomly or at a particular event and see how you can them stop that event

Good luck
