NT Server 4.0 Certification Help Needed
Lockedby hobo · about 24 years, 5 months ago
I have written the NT Server Cert exam 2 times and have failed by 5% and 8%. I need some new study techniques to help me. I have been through ExamCram, Sybex, and MC Prep Tests, and old transcenders – and am fairly confident I know the material but I each time I took it my deficiencies were shown in separate areas. Each exam I took was adaptive and I’m sure the next one will be the same format. Specifically, I need suggestions on how to breakdown the scenario questions. (I already have Networking Essentials).

Break the question into two areas; essential and non-essential info. Usually there is some info that matters; like what groups they are in and what they want to do; other info like names, job titles, etc that may not matter. Check out what the question is asking and see what info matters. That threw me on a couple of questions. I used Que and New Riders books and the cramsession.com and cram session book. I like having two different books on the same info since they emphasize different aspects. lastly, hands-on training is a must. Go thru every exercise in the book even if you know how to do it. Keep it up; you’ll get it this time! Good Luck!

I assume you are talking about ?? with the problem, optional results, required results, etc. IF so, the I conquered them was to create a “T” chart of 2 columns and as many rows as there reults. On the left, R1 where 1 is the first required result and the next one would be R2 and so on. Then, below Rx I would put O1 for the optional results. I read the proposed solution & scenario again and place a check beside each of the Rs & Os. It was easy to answer the question because I just had to count the number of checks.
Example:
R1|x
R2|
R3|x
–|
O1|
O2|x-

It sounds like you know the facts, but make sure you read the questions. It’s been my experience that when I miss a mark by such a small margin, it’s usually because I started to hurry and didn’t read the question carefully.
If you know the material, and it soulds like you do, there’s more than enough time to read each question. I usually read the questions twice, select an answer, then read the question once more before commiting my choice.
Go get ’em

Write down the required and optional results. When you read the proposed solution you should be able to mark off what requirements have been met by the solution. You have all the testing and reading material you need to pass the exam. Good Luck
