NT4 Workstation Logon Server

By bb0572 ·
Hi,
I have a number of NT4 workstations that are not using the onsite BDC as the Logon Server, but instead using the PDC over the WAN.

I have renamed the LogonServer entry in the HKCU Volatile Environment key and used the setprfdc utility to noavail, can anyone help?
Thanks

I have also recreated the users roaming profile but the issue remains.

workstations will always authenticate to a PDC over a BDC unless you have load balancing set up. Thats why they're called Primary Domain Controllers and Backup Domain Controllers.

Hi Barry,

Try editing LMHOSTS file with an entry to BDC.

Ipaddress nameofBDC #PRE #DOM:Your domain name

like 192.168.2.1 myserver #PRE #DOM:mydomain

Hope this helps...
