it's more an issue of not recognizing it as such. If that was your intent, no problem, but your delivery didn't adequately convey it.

Street Cred ?

by aidemzo_adanac In reply to Street cred =

Only person who would discount street cred as an integral part of self confidence, is someone without any to speak of (street cred that is) self confidence is assumed by many, most people who claim to be self confident are those who are not self confident but self concious..

All the training, hands on experience and book knowledge is useless without knowing real world application and drawbacks. Street Cred, as has been simplified here, due to lack of knowledge, offers a MAJOR advantage when coupled with formal knowledge. Street Cred mixed with experience, formal knowledge and training provides a level of confidence that draws revenue.

After all, God made money and the world began to revolve.

It depends on the street, the cred, the basis, and those evaluating it.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Street Cred ?

I don't care about any 'street cred' that is apparently based solely on my ignorance of current slang, as evaluated by a near-total stranger in an Internet forum where I've been a member for over a decade. As I understand the usage, this is MY 'house', MY 'street', has been since '00, and I have all the credibility around here any member could aspire to. Feel free to question it, but don't expect me to care until I know how many TR points you had, I see your faded 'TR Insiders' membership card and the inactive link to your old TR Blog, and you can tell me what "The # Lie' was about.

lord_beavis says it was a joke. I suspect didn't get it for the same reason I didn't understand his use of the word 'house': I have limited exposure to the way he's using the language. No problem.

Street cred is bestowed, not claimed

by NickNielsen In reply to Street Cred ?

By claiming better street cred than another, the OP has revealed himself as essentially insecure in his skills.

Or as an arrogant @$$.

"By claiming better street cred than another..."

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Street cred is bestowed, ...

Just the act of measuring one's cred against another's automatically bestows a level of credibiltity on the second person. You've established the other person as the standard you're measuring yourself against.
