Open file

I'm using Excel 2000. If i try to open excel file on desk top or in my folder by douple click on file, i get message said that " Cannot find file c:\winnt\profiles\user name\desktop\ file name... .Make sure the path and filename are correct and thatall required libraries are available. " . And it happen to all excel file that i had . But if i open excel program and go to File - Open and open file from there then i got no problem at all. Any idea. THANKS.

This may not be the best answer, but I think it will work. Find the path for your files using the FIND command then right click on your short cuts and change them to match.

...seen thi s a bajillion times, heres whacha need to do.

Hold shift, Right click on the excel file, choose OPEN WITH.

Then file EXCEL in the list and remember to check the check box for use this all the time or use this as the default whatever - something like that. Now excel and the file will open, close all and ignore that.

Now you should be able to open them normally with a double click and viola!

What happened? in my experience there is a real problem with Microsofts productslosing the file assiciations with the XLS files specifically, of course Microsoft denies it and says it has to do with the alignment of the moon and the sun, but we all know. . .
