open source ERP system

pkar
Hi,
I'm doing research on open source ERP systems with an intention to implement it in my client's company.
They produce wide range of signs.
I need good ordering, invoicing, material planning, stock control and crm modules, to name just the most important ones.

I've been googling now for a while to find some good product, but I was wondering if some of you could share their experiences on the subject.

Thanks
Peter

If you go to http://sourceforge.net and enter "erp" in the search box then do the search you will see a list of several hundred ERP open source packages. You can then use the advanced search feature to select the platform that you want to use to run the software, such as Windows or Linux or POSIX or whatever.

I have started to look at the vTiger project for my own business. The thing that I have found is that you can get the software to install but there is precious little documentation for vTiger. I don't know about the other projects. The idea that the vTiger people have is to give their software away but sell support. Apparently that includes how to set up the simplest configuration. Since I am not familiar with business terms I have found that setting the system up is very difficult. It would be easier if I were more familiar with business terms.

Anyway that is what I have found.

-OfBiz

It's a beginning, hope it helps you !

Peter,

<a href=?http://www.opensurgegroup.com/xTuple/overview.html?>xTuple ERP</a>
has all the functions that you're looking for, its robust scalable and you can easily <a href=?http://www.opensurgegroup.com/Landing/Landing/smallbusiness.html?>download a free version</a> to test with demo data.

Base on your post you will most likely need on of the license editions, probably the <a href=?http://www.opensurgegroup.com/xTuple/xTuple/StandardEdt.html?>Standard Edition</a>. Minimum annual license id $4000 per year for 5 concurrent users. xTuple is cross platform (Mac, Linux, Windows) so if you want to <a href=?http://www.opensurgegroup.com/Landing/Landing/erp_mac_os_x.html?>run on Apple</a>
this is your chance. and since its cross-platform you can replace windows clients as you go along.

Another option is to use open source xTuple ERP as a <a href=?http://www.opensurgegroup.com/host/host.html?>hosted solution.</a>

Best of luck.

Mitch
