Opening Word

By MAL4462 ·
Microsoft Office 2000 Professional Word (9.03821 SR-1)

When opening Word, I am getting an error message stating my system is dangerously low in resources. No other programs are running. I have 128 MB of RAM and 26.56GB hard drive. I also received another message stating I had a page fault in Kernel 32, USER.EXE.

Would you know why my Word program won't run? If not, can you send this on to a technical person who would know.

Thank you.

1) Delete all *.tmp files: Start --> Find --> Files or Folders --> *.tmp and search all subdirectories under c:\ (and any other hdd) --> select all files found by clicking on one and then Control-A (to select all) --> then delete.

2) Delete anything under Temporary Internet Files (including cookies).

3) Consider doing a scandisk and a defrag.

4) Delete all normal.dot (template files) that you find... they sometimes get corrupt and cause problems like this.

Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to verify that no other programs are running. Turn off Word as an e-mail editor for Outlook (if that's the case).
Don't use Journaling in Outlook.
Good luck
