Optimouse goes to sleep?

By carmar ·
I have an HP9694c and recently installed a HP optimouse in the USB on the Keyboard. This came on line and worked fine with no special instalation required..(just pluged it in and it worked) The problem that I am having is that it keeps going to sleep..When this happens all I have to do is unplug at the USB and it comes right back on line again..I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it does the same thing.. sometimes it will work for couple day then again it will fail 2-3 times in a day. This happens when machine is allowed to go into standby. When restarted the mouse is frozen.. Suggestions Please..

<---- You shouldn't have to do that!

If the mouse goes to sleep and moving it does not "wake it up" -- return it. It's actually losing the connection --- it's a bad mouse. Exchange it for the another of the same and that should solve the problem entirely.

Probably out of ten mice, I usually need to exchange one or two. I guess nobody checks them before they are packed and shipped to stores. It's a bad ratio, but they are cheap and most manufacturer's don't want to spend the time checking/testing tem. The retail stores don't even question a mouse return anymore.

Sorry, if the "computer" goes to sleep and the mouse movement does not wake it up, then the mouse is either bad or the USB port is bad. Probably the mouse.
