Outlook 2000 disappears from Windows

By pault ·
Here's a poser!

I've installed Outlook 2000 on both Win98 and 2K machines, all the latest spec, and from time to time, without prompting, Outlook 2000 disappears from the Windows GUI environment. Clicking on the icons to restart it doesn't work because the processes OUTLOOK.EXE and MAPISP32.EXE are still running happily in the background. Using task manager to end the processes is the only way to restart the program, short of restarting the computer.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here and how to prevent it? Any help will be most appreciated!

Thanks, Deja_Vu, but I'm holding back on SP2 as it's proved to cause one or two other problems with our system (mainly as we're using ACT!2000 at the moment). If I can find the specific hotfix this answer has definately helped. At least it's a knownissue and we're not the only people seing it. Once the programmers at ACT have got themselves together and overcome the security issue I'll apply the full service pack.
