Outlook 2000 won't open

By total geek ·
I am having a problem with a client who cannot open their Outlook 2000. It has only started the last two weeks. The only way she can open it is to restart the computer. The pc is running Windows xp with Office 2000. When clicking on the icon, the hour-glass comes up and then it disappears.
Could this be virus-related?

Look forward to a response.

Outlook 2000 won't open

Have you looked at Task Manager to make sure Outlook isn't running? We've had a couple of people that said Outlook wasn't opening, but it really was, just not where they could see it. We had to find the app in the open applications bar, right-click and select "move", then use the cursor keys to relocate the window on the desktop where it was accessible to the user. In one case, we found several instances of Outlook in Task Manager although the application itself couldn't be seen. We had to manually close all instances with their process trees and re-install Outlook to solve the problem.
