Outlook 97 Time zone problems

By trinianouk ·
Hi,
We use Outlook 97 ver 8.03.4629 to send internal emails on our network. We use Outlook Express 6.0 to send external emails on the internet.

The problem I'm having is to accuratley display the correct times of emails received on both programs.
My ISP said our Time zone is Caracs, La Paz (GMT -400). When I set my time zone to this, Outlook Express displays the correct times...however the mails in Outlook 97 are 4 hours off.

How can I get the two programs to DISPLAY CORRECT TIMES.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

wow. that is a weird one. sounds like a outlook 97 bug to me. any possibility of upgrading to more recent version, say outlook 2000?

Dunno if that will help the weird thing is if I change the TimeZone to Caraca, La Paz then Outlook' 97 shows the correct times but Outook Express's time is screwed up.

The time zone needs to be set the same on all workstations in your office. They also all need to have the same setting as far as whether Windows automatically adjusts for daylight savings time.

The Timezone Is the same on all workstations...i.e. GMT Dublin, Edinberg, Lisbon, London. This works fine for internal emails. time settings in Outlook'97...but then Outlook Express time in 4 hours off.

The obvious solution is to get a mail server in your time zone or host it yourself. I'm guessing that's not an option though.

Some mail servers have the ability to use different time zones for different mail groups. You might inquire to your ISP about that.

Some mail clients have the ability to use a time zone other than the computers - I used to use Pegasus mail a few years ago, and it allowed this. (I recall because sometimes we'd forget to set it and the mail would have the wrong time) It's free, well supported, and has good features. www.pmail.com

We use currently use Outlook 97 on our network, hosting our own email. This allows us to send/receive mail both internal and external. No issues with time sequencing. Sounds like the Outlook Express may be picking time up from the hosting email server. Are you located in GMT? versus the ISP being Caracas, LaPaz time zone. That will be a few hours difference right there. Hosting your own will allow one time zone.
