Outlook 97: Unable to update free/busy d

By gbrush ·
Some of my users are getting this message while in Outlook. The entire message is... "Unable to update free/busy data. The contents of this public folder are currently unavailable. Either the Microsoft Exchange Server computer servicing this publicfolder is down or the public folder has not been replicated to this site." I have only one Exchange server running ver.5.5. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this message.

In my experience to resolve this issue , you need to go into start->settings->Control panel_>mail and fax and select the properties
of the Microsoft Exchange Server. Where it says mailbox you need
to enter your name or if you are in a network you need to enter you network userid and then click on check name for Exchange your resolve your a/c.
and it should be O.K .
I'm not exactly sure what is the root cause of this but when it happened to me the cause of it was a corrupt registry on MS Exchange server and had to be updated

did you exceed your client license on your server? or do you have the public folders limited to x # of users? that can cause it also.
Good Luck,
