Outlook 98 - NT Authentication

By Chapel ·
I've got one user that when you open Outlook 98, everything comes up fine. about 1-2 minutes later, a NT authorization box pops open.

NT Authorization was already turned on. Using Exchange 5.5.

I've gone to the extent of removing the exchange settings and adding them back in. Also tried moving the user to a different pc , problems does NOT follow her there. Now heres another kicker - I created a brand new pc, and it followed er to it.

Would Deleting her profile from MS Exchange and recreating help? Any other suggestions?

Deleting her profile would be a first step. If that doesn't work, I would delete her NT profile and let that get recreated. That has helped me in the past.

Have you watched the user logon to the network and then go through the process of starting Outlook? I've had a lot of users forget to logon to the network and then get upset when they had to logon to get mail access.

actually.. I have the users login and password and have done everthing she should be doing from bootup and I get the same thing (under her login, on her pc)

To add more, I've removed the NT authentication from theexchange settings and restarted outlook. It prompts as it should, opens everything and within a minute we get a "You login credentials are incorrect... blah blah blah" and get another NT auth login.

I failed to mention that we can cancel through this (takes about 8x clicking the cancel button) and she can use outlook as normal. It's acting like its trying to open a 2nd users account, but nothing (in outlook or exhange) indicates to open a 2nd.

Check each of the mail folders she opens and see if the permissions have been messed up so that the user has less than full rights. It may be something like automatic synchronization or archiving trying to fire up, only to find that it cannot write in one or more folders.

Good luck.
