Outlook Contacts Duplicating Themselves
LockedHola.
We have a user at one of our client sites who’s running Outlook 2007 connected to Exchange 2008. Last week, an odd thing started occurring. Two or three of her contacts in Outlook started replicating themselves so that at first, there would be just four or five duplicate entries. This quickly spiraled out of control to the point where their ended up being thousands upon thousands of the same contact entry. This only occurs with a couple contacts.
She’s on an XP machine and I ran through all the usual steps of cleaning the desktop up, running AV, Malware Bytes, CCleaner, and a few other things.
A few weeks ago, she was receiving an error stating that her junk mail senders list was full, even though there was nothing on this list. I forget how exactly I fixed this as I ran through a what seemed like a million different things but I believe I logged into her OWA account, checked the senders list, turned the filter off and then back on.
This duplicate contact thing is driving me nuts though as I can’t find anything on the interwebs related to it. She also has a blackberry and I’m wondering whether there’s some sort of weird synch issue occurring, but it doesn’t make sense that it would only happen to a handful of contacts. I also have cached mode turned off.
Next thing I’m going to try is rebuilding the system but I’m trying to only do that as a last ditch effort.
