Outlook Mail disappearing when other use

I've recently be given the responsiblity to take care of our Novell lan, but have had no prior experience or training on it. Outlook was already installed and most people on site are using it for their email, and I think the messages
and folders are being stored in each users personal folder on the Lan server.

About a week ago, we had to move our server from one floor to the
next and all new ehternet cabling and jacks were installed. When the
server was brought back up, I went around to various workstations and
logged into the Novell lan to make sure everyone had good connectivity.

Many of the PC's noticed that I, (my Novell user name and password),
had never logged into that paticular machine before and asked if I
wanted the settings saved, I said no. Some PC's also automatically
started up Outlook, and since I was not the normal, default user, it

Now, whenever the normal users of those workstations log in, they

Try having them log in on their PC and once they are logged in, check the way that the mail profiles are set up in the Mail control panel. Make sure that their .pab and .pst files are where the profile is pointing to them. Have they lost mapping to their home directories since the move? We once migrated all users at one building (Novell 4.11) onto another server in another building (also Novell 4.11) and disabled the old server. All home directory mapping was lost during the migration and had to be reinstalled one by one in NWADMIN! Thank goodness it wasn't too many users! Good luck.

There an article here on TR. Home\Support\User Support\Article entitled Solving the mystery of disappearing messages in Outlook98/2000 under Exchange Server. Might be worth a look.

You don't say what mail system you're using - you say it's a Novell network, so I can assume it's not Exchange Server. You also don't mention what client OS you have installed - that can also effect hopw to approach the problem. Basically, you need to check for proper network connection - can you access the server for file and directory services? Check the mail configuration on the workstations, make sure that they can see the correct server. Also double check your Tree, Server, and Context settings.
