Outlook will lose it's display of items in the Inbox, is there a fix?

By pweber ·
Outlook will lose it's display of items in the Inbox, or Sent Items in the terminal server environment. I have to keep correcting the view to get them to return. Using Server 2008 R2, and Outlook 2007. This only occurs sporadically, but never shows an error in event logs.

Outlook relies on a local mail database, and there are config settings to control how the local data store gets synchronized.

Is this a problem for one user? If so, then simply resettting the local database is the fix.

It does not happen for all users. There are 8 of us on a terminal, and it has only happened to 2 or 3 of us. It has also happened to 1 or 2 users on a different terminal server, but not to anyone still using a PC. It has happened to mobile device users and non-mobile device users.

Also, we are not using cached exchange on these servers. I think we have it turned off with group policy due to file size. Doesn't it take up a lot of space?

Re: Outlook losing display

It sounds as though you are experiencing the issues described in the link below, something our company has recently encountered. Supposedly there is a fix coming in the next 30-60 days.

Thank you for the reply. Guess I'll just need to wait for the fix.
