Outlook2k & Exchange 5.5 sp4 receiving e

By TranquileUncle ·
How can I receive "inbound" email from other organizations, people, companies, etc. We can send and receive "in-house" just fine, but I can't receive email from an outside source. My email is webmaster@headstart-getcap.org, be so kind and email something to me. I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. Exchange is new to me, I outsourced some help in setting this up and configuring it, but it seems to amaze even these "top-notch techs". I'm running Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 4 on a Windows 2000/IBM machine. I also have a Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5/IBM Netfinity file server and both machines are under "headstart" domain created by the WinNT machine. My clients are running Outlook 2000. Where can I start troubleshooting this problem? I'm already reading the Microsoft Knowledgebase and I'm reading the Exchange Server 5.5 documentation.

Make sure that your DNS hosting provider has put the MX record in the DNS for headstart-getcap.org and is pointing to your Exchange mail IP address (if this is from a public IP range). Also, make sure that you have headstart-getcap.org included asINBOUND in the routing tab of your Internet Mail Connector in Exchange (exchange admin, connectors).
If you give me more details about the setup (any firewall/proxy in the way) I think I will be able to assist you further. I'm running multiple domains in 3 connected sites situated in NZ, UK and US.
Regards,
Radu
