Outlook98 calendar problem

By chris.nwankwo ·
Outlook98 is being run on a laptop and has been set to have offline folders. When the user is on the network he occassionally loses connection to his calendar folder and only re-establishes connection when he logs off and logs on again.

Has anyone experienced this problem I would appreciate some assistance

It is possible that the user is actually using an *.ost file(offline storage file) and that they are not actually logged into the network.

Outlook 98 has a calendar caching feature that is turned on by default. The calendar that the user is looking at when he's working online is actually stored in an .ost file on their local hard drive. When the user opens exchange, the calendar is synchronized automatically (you can see this happening in the lower right hand corner of the Outlook window). If you would like to disable calendar caching, take a look at MS KB article Q237856. Here is the link:

Hope this helps. Good luck!
