OWA through AOL

By Tiffany2 ·
I have a client who uses AOL to connect to the internet from home. Through the AOL address bar he cannot access our OWA Exchange 2000 server (it just keeps asking for username and password). If I minimize AOL and use IE6.0 it works fine. AOL insistsit's not them it's my OWA server.

HELP!!!!

OWA and IE

OWA tends to work best (and sometimes only) with Internet Explorer. It's a Microsoft thing.

AOL vs Microsoft vs Netscape

by apluspcnet In reply to OWA through AOL

a bit of information that I learned is....

Until AOL v5.0, AOL supported MSIE. then they really tried to comply with MSIE standards. AOL then tried to rebel by going with NetScape Gecko and started following Netscape standards.

So the information you really need is what version of AOL is the client using, because the newer versions do not play well with MSIE.

It is a Microsoft thing, changing the rules to play by when AOL dropped supporting MSIE. It also depends on what version ofMSIE you are using. If you want the best AOL and MSIE experience, the client must use MSIE v5 (not 5.5) and AOL v5. Otherwise, they have to bare with havning to log onto AOL then opening one extra screen (MSIE) to log on to the Exchange server.
PS, I heard that with AOL 8.0, they are back to supporting MSIE in full. Netscape didn't work out as well as they planned.
